After the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zalansky, addressed the Knesset members today (Sunday) using the zoom and attacked Israel's policy regarding the war - the members of the government and the Knesset responded to his speech when some of them sharply attacked his remarks.
Earlier in his speech to the Knesset, Zalansky attacked the government's decision not to provide protection to Ukraine: "Israel knows very well that your interception system - Iron Dome - is the best. One may ask why we can not get weapons from you? Why Israel did not impose serious sanctions on Russia?".

MK Yuval Steinitz attacked him and said of the Ukrainian president's speech: "It is said that no one is caught in his grief, but if the speech of Zalansky, the Jewish president of Ukraine, was delivered on normal days, he would be said to border on Holocaust denial.
"War is always a terrible thing and shelling and occupation is an unbearable thing for the Ukrainian people - but any comparison between an ordinary war, difficult as it may be, and the extermination of millions of Jews in gas chambers as part of the final solution is a complete distortion of history."
He added that "so is the claim that the Ukrainian people helped Jews in the Holocaust. It is true that thousands did help save Jews, and became Righteous Among the Nations - but the sad historical truth is that many helped the Nazis enthusiastically in the project of collecting and exterminating Jews and plundering their property. The historical truth is that the Ukrainian people "He can not be proud of his conduct in the face of the Jewish Holocaust. All this does not change the fact that, despite the outrageous use of the Holocaust, we must continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the citizens of Ukraine suffering from the war, and pray for its speedy end."
MK Efrat Reytan responded: "It was a complex class not only because of the constraints of the zoom, but because of the poignant things that Ukrainian President Zalansky said.
Despite the difficulty, it must not be forgotten that the president represents a state and millions of citizens who are fighting for their lives. "

MK Michal Waldiger attacked Zalanski's speech: "There is no room for comparison between what is happening now in Ukraine and what happened in the Holocaust.
"We understand and grieve over what is happening in Ukraine - the comparison is outrageous, inappropriate and reduces the horrors that happened in the Holocaust."
