A quarter of French people (27%) consider the Islamist terrorist threat to be very high in France, whereas they were 68% just after the attacks of November 13, 2015, according to an Ifop poll for Elnet France reported on Monday March 21 by the AFP.

This perception varies according to the political positioning of the people questioned: 56% of the sympathizers of the Rassemblement national consider this threat currently very high and 45% of those of Reconquête!

Conversely, only 17% of LREM supporters and 14% of those of rebellious France are of this opinion.
More generally, 79% of French people consider the threat to be high, i.e. nearly 20 points (98%) less than after the Islamist attacks of November 13, 2015, which left 130 dead in Paris and Saint-Denis.
Distinction between practitioners and radicals
With less than three weeks to go before the presidential election, 53% of respondents believe that issues related to the fight against Islamism are not sufficiently addressed by candidates and the media.
Marine Le Pen is considered the most able to fight against this threat (48% tend to trust her), ahead of Emmanuel Macron (44%) and Eric Zemmour (38%).
In addition, 77% of respondents think that Islamism is a danger for the Republic, a proportion which varies greatly according to age (90% for those aged 65 and over, 53% for those aged 18-24).

Finally, more than three-quarters of French people (79%) make a clear distinction between the vast majority of Muslims who “
peacefully practice their religion
” and “
a minority of radical Islamists
” who break with the values of the Republic.
The survey, conducted for Elnet France, a think tank which is organizing a symposium on Islamist radicalization and the Islamist threat in Paris on Sunday, was carried out online on March 1 and 2 with a sample of 1,007 people representative of the population. Frenchwoman aged 18 and over, according to the quota method.
