A Tesla employee showed in a YouTube video that autonomous driving at Tesla is not yet fully developed.

That was his undoing.

Palo Alto - Highly automated driving is not yet permitted in Germany.

According to the legal requirements, cars currently have to meet certain requirements in order to be allowed to drive in a highly automated manner at all.

For example, Mercedes-Benz* offers a motorway traffic jam pilot as an optional extra.

But that still has little to do with full, permanent automatic takeover of the journey.

Tesla: Model 3 crashes into road posts in autonomous driving

The e-car pioneer Tesla*, on the other hand, is working hard on its “Full Self-Driving* (FSD)” driver assistance system.

This allows the car to drive completely autonomously, while the driver could actually do something completely different - if it were allowed.

Because even in the USA, despite automatic driving, you have to keep your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the road.

A video by YouTuber and e-car enthusiast John Bernal now shows that this is a sensible regulation.

It shows him driving his Tesla Model* 3 in FSD mode.

However, when turning right at an intersection, he suddenly has to give in.

Because the vehicle turns a little too sharply around the curve and hits a green post that separates the road from the cycle path.

Tesla: employee is fired after accident video

The driver, who is also employed by Tesla, shares the accident on his YouTube channel and the video has over 90,000 clicks (as of March 21).

In the comments, some users thank Bernal for sharing the accident and thus also showing the limits and dangers of automated driving.

But the e-car manufacturer does not seem particularly enthusiastic about an employee uncovering the weaknesses of their own system.

As

reports, Bernal was fired shortly after the accident clip was uploaded.

Tesla did not want to give an exact reason for the termination, but the 26-year-old was told by telephone that the termination was due to "improper use of the FSD".

In addition, Bernal's YouTube channel represents a conflict of interest.
