Valley starts citizen participation.

Those who want to get involved should be able to do so in future working groups.

Let's start with an energy working group.

Valley – In Weyarn, citizen participation has existed for a long time.

It is enshrined in a municipal statute.

There are currently 14 working groups, including for libraries, youth, business, local design and transport, energy and the environment.

The working groups regularly submit minutes of their meetings to the municipal council, so that the elected representatives are always informed.

Citizen participation based on this model will soon also be available in Valley.

Angela Falkenhahn (SPD) presented a model to the municipal council of how the future project is planned.

Here, too, the communication between working groups and the municipal council should function via minutes from the AK meetings.

The decision-maker is always the municipal council, which approves the topics proposed by the working groups and the funds required for them.

Community planning and progress - citizen participation now possible

A civic participation committee with members of the municipal council is virtually an intermediary.

The spokeswoman for this committee is Falkenhahn.

The committee organizes information events for the citizens and presentation dates in the municipal council, it forwards the minutes and budget applications and supports the establishment of new working groups.

A working group on energy will start things off.

It is to be founded at a public meeting on Thursday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bräustüberl.

People who are interested in planning and promoting projects in the community are welcome, says Falkenhahn.

In the municipal council, she explained that the goal of citizen participation was transparent cooperation between working groups and the municipal council.

As spokeswoman for the committee, she herself is an “interface” both to the administration and to Mayor Bernhard Schäfer (FWG).

"If suggestions come from the working groups, I discuss them with the mayor, who can then bring them to the meeting," said Falkenhahn.

Falkenhahn is planning further working groups

Paul Hechenthaler (FWG) asked whether further working groups were planned.

"Little by little," said Falkenhahn.

"These are the next steps, but now we want to concentrate on the first one." Barbara Walter (CSU) added that they wanted to start in small steps.

In an energy working group, topics could already be worked out "that will take us forward".

Mayor Schäfer is also hoping for success in the citizen participation project.

Weyarn is a role model, he said.

“We got advice there and saw that there was a long way to go.” Valley wants to tackle that now.

"It's just a fledgling seed, but we're getting started and then hopefully the child will continue to grow."
