A page turns for William Butler, leaving behind him twenty years of rock with the Canadian group Arcade Fire.
Created in 2003 around his older brother Win Butler and his sister-in-law Régine Chassagne in Montreal, the group has only five members left after the announcement on Twitter of the departure of the bassist, who now aspires to
"devote himself to personal projects ".

"Hi guys - I left Arcade Fire
," the 39-year-old Texan announced on his Twitter account, to the surprise of the general public.

There's no serious reason for that beyond the fact that I've changed - and the band has changed - over the past almost 20 years.
The band members will always be my friends and family.
It's time to do new things
,” he continued, reassuring his fans and thanking them for their contribution.
“Thank you to everyone who came to Arcade Fire concerts, bought a record or liked our music.
Thank you to the team, staff, management, label people, bands, artists and friends who helped bring our vision to life for so many years.”
A journey that began following the success of their first album
Funeral
, which was released in September 2004 by Merge Records.
This disc has also been classified, according to the international review aggregator Acclaimed Music, as the best of the decade 2000-2010.

Before leaving his fellow musicians, the guitarist wanted to participate in the production of their next album,
The Lightning I, II
, which is scheduled for release on May 6.
At the end of his message, William Butler also announced that he was working on other projects.
Concerts for this summer as well as music from a play by David Adjmi.
He confided to continuing his collaboration with the organization Plus1org, which works in the music industry in order to release funds and increase the visibility of social justice initiatives.
