CDU politician Kristian Tangermann dies at the age of 45 – Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Wüst “deeply affected”

At the age of only 45, CDU politician Kristian Tangermann died completely unexpectedly.

NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst also reacted with dismay.

Hanover – The Lower Saxony CDU* mourns the loss of a party member.

Kristian Tangermann passed away at the age of only 45.

The Christian Democrat was mayor of the municipality of Lilienthal in the Lower Saxony district of Osterholz from 2016 until his death.

According to the general representative of the deceased in the town hall, Jürgen Weinert, Tangermann was found dead in his home in Seebergen on Tuesday (March 22).

According to the local police, they still have no information about the cause of death.

There are also no indications of third-party debt so far.

Tangermann leaves behind his wife Ina Brandes.

She is also a politician and is currently Minister of Transport for North Rhine-Westphalia in the cabinet of Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst*.

The condolence on Twitter: "The news of Kristian Tangermann's death hit me deeply.

The thoughts of the entire state cabinet are with Minister of Transport Ina Brandes, who has suffered an irreplaceable loss,” Wüst wrote.

"Support them in this difficult time - the family is more important than any office.

In deep mourning with Ina Brandes and all relatives, we will honor Kristian Tangermann's memory.

Personally, I mourn the loss of a long-standing political friend," continued the NRW state father.

Death of Kristian Tangermann "shakes" the head of the CDU Lower Saxony

The state leader of the CDU Lower Saxony, Bernd Althusmann, also commented on the death of his party friend: "It was with great dismay and deep shock that we learned today of the unexpected death of our party friend Kristian Willem Tangermann.

The lively and always in a good mood mayor of the municipality of Lilienthal was a good friend, a reliable politician and his wife a loving husband.

His sudden death shocks us all and leaves a void that will never be filled.

With deep sadness, our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, family and friends at this difficult time.”

Before Tangermann became mayor of Lilienthal, he had worked as a civil servant in the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs and the Federal Ministry of Labor in Berlin.

Among other things, the CDU politician was a personal advisor to the then Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen*.
