– Being or becoming a real mime is an ambitious thing in normal times.

In the years of Corona, your own facial expressions are hidden behind masks in many public areas of life.

For actors like the young hopeful Matteo Miska from Unterbiberg, this doesn't make the challenge of recommending yourself for a coveted role in the casting any easier.

A lot of things are happening electronically, anonymously and on your own screen these days.

If you have received a role, the shooting can quickly become a real torture and challenge due to conditions on the set.

Matteo, who is only 16, faces these challenges with a noticeably open mind, a lot of hard work and a happy smile.

The first and biggest role in "Ostwind"

The youngster, who is in the 10th grade at the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium, has reason to be happy anyway, given his already decent career so far.

"At the age of 13, I played my first and biggest role in the movie 'Ostwind – The Great Hurricane'," he says proudly.

Greats like Tilo Prückner, Conny Froboess or Gedeon Burkhard were his partners.

In several previous casting rounds he had shown perseverance, impressed in scenic tests and was finally rewarded with the role of the circus boy Carlo in the popular horse film series.

"It was a very steep start," he says.

"Before, I hadn't even cast extra roles."

What has remained with Matteo is "this feeling of well-being on the set".

Anyway, the set.

This is where the young performer thrives.

“I think the work on the set is great.

Surprisingly, even getting up earlier in the morning is not that difficult for me,” he smiles.

Gaining valuable insights into the teamwork on the set is important to the open-minded young man, who obviously thinks far beyond the box of acting.

"Costume, make-up, camera, technology, music and direction - everything is very inspiring," he says with gestures.

This openness to meticulously exploring his surroundings, the ability to get used to other characters - this shows the talent of this cheerful, serious teenager.

It's no wonder that Matteo has meanwhile entered the notebooks of the casting companies.

Also in the family drama "Die Saat",

Much acclaimed at last year's Berlinae, the Unterbiberger was seen in a supporting role.

Most recently, Matteo acted in the series season finale in "Bergdoktor" on ZDF (still available in the media library) with a leading role in an episode.

"A big challenge," admits Matteo.

"After collapses with severe shortness of breath, my series character Fabian Bichler finds out that he has a congenital genetic defect that most people don't even survive infancy".

Tough stuff for a young man in the middle of life.

Who writes and produces his own songs in addition to filming and schooling and is active as a club soccer player.

"I think I'm very good at working persistently - but I still don't know all the acting techniques and methods

support from parents and grandparents

His parents are indispensable helpers.

"Without my parents none of this would have happened.

They drive me to castings and filming days, film the e-castings and take care of the trappings".

Grandma and Grandpa are also regular supporters.

During long shooting times, they sometimes step in as supervisors.

"In addition, I have great classmates who caught me with important information when I was shooting at the Bergdoktor during school".

Matteo studies people for his roles - and doesn't forget his important environment.

"I always try to be open and honest with everyone - and to spend the short time on this planet with what I like".

He lives his creed.

In any case, he is not committed to acting.

"I could imagine teaching at school or working in music production, as well as professional acting training," Matteo looks relaxed.

"I'll let it come to me a bit," he explains as he says goodbye.

The relaxed mime Matteo is not upset even by the corona mask.

serenity in difficult times.

Matteo has internalized that.

On the set and in life.
