(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 22 - The new book by Sergio Nazzaro, FORT ALAMO, Nigerian criminality and human trafficking (New Town, 2022), will be released in bookstores on Thursday 24 March.

The account of the first major investigation into Nigerian organized crime in Italy.

There where it all began.

In the reportage Nazzaro reconstructs all the stages of Restore Freedom: the first Mafia investigation of Nigerian crime, a joint operation of the police (police, judiciary up to the involvement of the Secret Services) which revealed the power, brutality and the ramifications of the Nigerian mafia in Italy and in Europe.

All this happens in Castel Volturno, where a handful of women and men from the police station face the trafficking of human beings between drug dealing, new mafia realities and bloody wars of the Camorra.

The victims are young women, very often minors, sold on the sex market of Italian roads.

The Castel Volturno Police Station is a sort of Fort Alamo, the place where David Crockett's Texas rebels faced Santana's regular army.

Sergio Nazzaro explains: "This investigation starts from where it all began, demonstrating that the Nigerian mafia has been present in our territories for decades. It is the story of how a handful of policemen immersed himself in human trafficking. And discovered hell".

In Fort Alamo, Nigerian crime and trafficking in human beings takes up the plots of the Nigerian Mafia.

The first investigation by the Anti-Trafficking Squad (from which the Black Mafia cousinery was taken, broadcast on Rai 3) and reconstructs the premise of the presence and proliferation of Nigerian criminal activity in Italy.

After Cosa Nostra, 'Ndrangheta, Camorra and Sacra coronapugliese, the new mafia operating in Italy is presented here: the Nigerian mafia or black mafia, which manages, in our country, millionaire trafficking related to cocaine and prostitution.

The book reconstructs, exclusively, the key moments of the first investigation by the Turin anti-trafficking squad, whose task is to bring to justice the criminals who enrich themselves by exploiting the trafficking of women, very often minors, who arrive in Italy alone and without documents.

In the pages of this narrative reportage, Sergio Nazzaro, through interviews, wiretapping never published before and unpublished documents, reconstructs the first SAT investigation and allows us to observe, very closely, the way of thinking and acting of the Nigerian mafia.

A mafia that for decades has flourished from the South to the North of Italy in league with the Italian mafias.

Sergio Nazzaro, journalist and writer, has studied items of national and international organized crime, with particular reference to mafias of African origin.

He has collaborated with various newspapers including «Fanpage.it», «Repubblica», «Sole 24 Ore» and made documentaries for CurrentTV, Rai 2, Rai 3. He is the author of several publications including Castel Volturno.

Reportage on the African mafia (Einaudi 2013), Mediterraneo (Round Robin 2018) and, for Città Nuova,
