The late writer, poet and playwright Mamdouh Adwan left a rich cultural and intellectual legacy through his own style in every literary product he presented. His liberation from molds and ideologies, his openness, his intellectual freedom, his rejection of injustice, and the emulation of the natures of various human characters were the most important contents that his literature presented.
On the experience of Adwan, a number of specialists spoke during a cultural symposium organized by the Ornina Cultural Forum in the literary hall of Sami Al-Droubi in Homs culture, where director Fahd Rahmoun indicated that Adwan provided the theatrical movement in Syria with a unique and important product and was looking for a wide space to say his word in the face of the postulates of his environment and its heritage.
We find in the plays of Adwan, according to Rahmon, an echo of his poems and intellectual writings, a building for his ideas, and his courageous confrontation of the mistakes of the world, indicating that what tempts the directors with his works is the breadth of his culture and topics that concern man directly and the construction of his strong plays that raise real issues without fear and with the intelligence of beautiful fantasy.
For her part, Dr. Salwa Al-Hosni, a professor of the Arabic language, indicated that Adwan was influenced in his poetry by the Sufi experience and was aware that theater is closely related to society and flourishes in its prosperity, reviewing his experience in writing for drama, during which he sought to reconsider the interpretation of the historical event and its questioning.
Scriptwriter Fahd Al-Mar’i referred to Mamdouh Adwan’s book about Al-Mutanabbi in the light of the drama, which conveyed to us a new viewpoint that carries a measure of dramatic imagination and the desire to protect the hero, which weakens his presence on the field of drama, pointing out that the book presents ideas worthy of contemplation about Al-Mutanabbi, his poetry, his life and an image of the way he worked It has aggression against the series' project and the great ambition that governed the prospects of his writing to reshape the image of the greatest dramatic Arab poet in a way that defies the prevailing stereotypical references.
