More and more toilets at Munich underground stations are being modernized.
That's why nine toilet facilities are closed at the moment.
customers complain.
Munich – When you need them, they are out of order or in a desolate condition: the toilets in Munich's underground stations.
Stefan Hofmeir, spokesman for the Munich Passenger Association, spoke to the
AZ
of "numerous complaints".
Some customers even felt unsafe there.
Stadtwerke München has therefore been using paid toilets in many underground stations for some time: modern and clean.
At the moment, however, many other toilets are closed.
However, the municipal utilities can justify this failure: At the request of the
AZ
, they explain that the toilets at the Feldmoching, Trudering, Messestadt Ost, Milbertshofen, Klinikum Großhadern, Hasenbergl, Mangfallplatz, Josephsplatz and Westfriedhof stations are currently being modernized.
Modernized toilets in Munich underground stations: 60 cent usage fee
After that, however, it will no longer be free to use.
This is annoying for people who are regularly dependent on these locations for health reasons.
Nevertheless: According to the AZ
, the municipal utilities do not expect many lawsuits
.
A user fee of 60 cents is therefore “happily accepted if you find a hygienically clean toilet facility in return.”
Hofmeir also agrees.
Nobody likes dirty toilets, so he doesn't want to say anything against privatization.
Munich subway: more and more “toilets for everyone”
Subway toilets are often particularly important for people with disabilities.
Having to pay 60 cents every time could quickly become an additional burden here.
But the Disability Officer of the City of Munich, Oswald Utz, also praised the progress made by the
AZ
: Accordingly, there are more and more "toilets for everyone".
Well equipped, for example with lifting aids, they should also be easy to use for people with complex disabilities.
The disabled toilets are also only accessible with a special key, which is issued to all authorized persons.
The situation has already improved significantly.
The toilets are also much cleaner.
There has been a change of heart in Munich, praises Utz.
