WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will marry his fiancée Stella Moris this Wednesday at HMP Belmarsh prison, according to a statement from the Wikileaks media team.

“Julian Assange and Stella Moris will marry at HMP Belmarsh this Wednesday surrounded by a handful of friends and family.

Their engagement was announced in November 2021 and after months of back and forth with the governor and prison authorities, the couple was granted permission to marry inside the prison," the statement read.

“Only four guests and two witnesses, as well as two security guards, will be able to attend the ceremony.

Guests must leave immediately after the event, even if it is held during normal visiting hours,” he added.

The statement also said that Dame Vivienne Westwood is designing Moris's wedding dress and a kilt for Assange.

"Stella Moris is expected to cut a wedding cake and deliver a speech after her wedding ceremony has concluded," the statement added.

Hundreds of Assange supporters have planned to gather outside the prison for this event according to the Wikileaks media team.

Assange and Moris have two children together.

Assange has been charged in the US under the Espionage Act for his role in the publication of classified military and diplomatic cables and is currently in the UK jail at HMP Belmarsh in Thamesmead, southeast London.

On March 15, the UK Supreme Court refused to allow Julian Assange to make his final appeal against extradition to the United States.

The court said his request did not raise "a moot point of law," dealing a major blow to Assange's hopes of avoiding extradition.
