Mobile communications is a hot topic in Icking.

Signatures against the planned mobile phone masts on the Ickinger sports grounds have now been collected and handed over.

Icking – In a democracy, people have a say, can argue and want to help shape things.

This is how Ickinger architect Gerhard Haisch sees it, who is concerned about "the well-being of his fellow citizens", as he puts it.

He collected 65 signatures against the controversial construction of Vodafone's 5G mobile phone mast on the Ickinger sports grounds - and has now presented the list to Mayor Verena Reithmann.

"We call on you to initiate a development plan amendment procedure to make it permissible to erect a radio mast on the sports area on Spatzenloher Straße," says Haisch.

The residents are "greatly concerned" above all by "the impairment of the positive quality of life with 5G radiation, which is at the limit of the health risk, as well as the removal of the noise protection wall, which has been green for 20 years."

Icking: Protest against planned mobile phone masts

Haisch was outraged by the "succinct" statement by the Bavarian State Ministry on his letter in October 2021 objecting to the planned construction of a 40-metre-high radio mast.

There it says literally: "In the worst case, an area to be planted with trees or shrubs would be affected by the erection of the mobile phone mast, but not the specified type of structural use 'sport'".

Haisch finds "it is irresponsible when a high official who has no idea only talks about a few bushes when it comes to noise protection".

At that time, a lawful development plan was adopted, which stipulated that no other buildings were permitted, except for sporting purposes.”

City hall expects planning application for radio mast

Mayor Reithmann makes it clear: "We currently have no plans for a radio mast." But the building application will come.

The operator has the right to build a mast.

Either the community refers to the designated concentration area for mobile communications, to which the area of the sports facility belongs, or the operator builds somewhere else.

"We basically have to ask ourselves: do we want to help shape it and come to an agreement, or leave control to the operator, who can then freely choose the location." Noise barrier can be erected.” web
