But lately, due to the crisis (of Covid and then the Russian invasion of Ukraine), certain certainties have been shattered in the megalopolis on the East Coast.
Of course the
skyline
and Yankee Stadium are still there, but many residents have deserted the tall buildings and outsiders are more sparse at the corner of Broadway and Seventh Avenue.
Many doorsteps are now for rent on Madison Avenue.
The Big Apple is hunkering down as inflation hovers around 8% nationwide.
And the fashion scene is to match, with New York Fashion Week being a shadow of its former self for the past few seasons.
It must be said that the absence of Ralph Lauren on the catwalks for the past two years has been heavily felt, him, the
kid
from the Bronx who has been parading in Manhattan since the beginning…
