Wednesday, March 23: Ukraine refugees can apply for a residence permit at the district office

District - Refugees from the Ukraine can now apply for a residence permit at the district office, which initially extends their right of residence in Germany to two years and gives them access to numerous permits: Refugees are allowed to work in Germany as soon as they receive the provisional residence certificate and, if they are not currently earning their living can contest themselves, submit an application for financial support under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act.

As part of this, they also receive financial support for medical benefits as well as rental and utility costs for private accommodation provided by county citizens.

Previously, Ukrainians were allowed to stay in Germany for 90 days without a visa.

This is reported by the authority in a press release.

Rule applies to refugees from February 24th - applications in two languages

The new rule applies to:

  • Ukrainian citizens and their family members who stayed in Ukraine until February 24,

  • Third-country nationals or stateless persons enjoying international protection in Ukraine and their family members if they were in Ukraine before or on February 24, and

  • Third-country nationals who resided in Ukraine on a permanent basis before or on February 24 and cannot safely return to their country of origin.

All applications can be submitted in German or Ukrainian.

Your processing will start immediately, but due to the "very, very high number" of inquiries to be expected, according to the district office, it will require a processing time.

The district office assures that the department for foreigners and asylum affairs will concentrate all resources on the quick processing of the applications.

Other appointments would therefore have to be limited to the essentials, which could lead to longer waiting times.

The district office has put together easy-to-understand guidelines and tips at www.landkreis-miesbach.de/ukrainehilfe under “Registration/financial support”, which should enable a quick application.

The application forms can also be downloaded there.

Another bus with 51 refugees arrived on Tuesday

Meanwhile, another bus with 51 refugees from Ukraine reached the district on Tuesday.

The refugees were previously housed in the emergency quarters at the Munich Exhibition Center.

There are 48 refugees with Ukrainian passports and three family members with other passports but permanent residence rights in Ukraine.

Almost half of the refugees (23 people) are children.

According to the district office, the refugees were registered, tested for Corona and provided with the most important things.

They were initially housed in the initial reception center in Miesbach.

At the same time, the accommodation agency in the district office began looking for suitable housing offers from district citizens.

A total of 880 refugees from Ukraine are now registered in the district.

Tuesday, March 22: Fischbachau could soon have space for 60 refugees

Haus Hildegard and the Münchner-Kindl-Heim in Fischbachau could each take in 30 Ukrainian refugees.

The chances are good that this will happen - although the city of Munich has probably already had an eye on the accommodations.

All information can be found in our article on the subject.

Monday March 21: 170 refugees arrived over the weekend

At the weekend, 170 people from Ukraine in the Miesbach district sought refuge from the war in their home country: As of Monday afternoon, the district office said it had registered a total of 757 refugees from the Eastern European country.

On Friday afternoon there were still 587.

According to district office spokeswoman Sophie Stadler, the majority of the new arrivals are 99 refugees who were driven to the district in two buses from an initial reception center in Munich on Saturday morning – 87 Ukrainian nationals and twelve refugees who have residence permits in Ukraine.

Among them are 31 families with a total of 28 children aged between eight months and 16 years.

By Sunday evening, according to Stadler, the accommodation administration had placed more than 70 refugees from the buses in private housing offers in the district.

The other people are now housed in the initial reception center in the Miesbach gym.

The accommodation administration continues to look for suitable accommodation for them.

The buses that arrived on Sunday are not those that the district had announced for Friday but had been canceled (we reported).

A new assignment was made on Saturday, says Stadler.

District citizens who have reported an apartment offer online are asking the accommodation agency to be patient: the team is working flat out to match offers and demand appropriately, says Stadler.

Anyone who has not yet received a call can be called at one of the next assignments.
