Also in Texas, about 30 miles away in the town of Round Rock, a tornado hit Terry Grondin's home.
He has lived there for more than 30 years.
Terry Grondin:
"
We tried to get through but the roads were blocked. I just ran here on foot, saw my house and was devastated. I didn't know what to do. I still don't know what to do to be honest. I'm just trying to see what needs to be done for us to get back to normal life."
The storm also caused devastation in other states in the southern United States.
At least one person was reportedly killed and several injured.
There is still a severe weather warning for around 5 million people.
Around 55,000 people were without power in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected to continue for the next few days.
