The war in Ukraine is spreading.

Mercedes-Benz has now applied for short-time work at the main plant.

Stuttgart – In view of the Ukraine war* and its consequences for suppliers, Mercedes-Benz has applied for short-time work in parts of the Swabian plant in Sindelfingen.

The new shift planning of the large factory will also be compensated for in the current week for the employees using so-called working time instruments.

This was announced by a spokeswoman for the automaker on Wednesday on request.

The magazine "Wirtschaftswoche" had previously reported on it.

Details were not given by the manufacturer.

The factory with around 25,000 employees, including the new "Factory 56" plant, will continue to run, it said in Stuttgart.

Among other things, the S-Class luxury sedan is built in Sindelfingen near Stuttgart.

Most recently, Porsche, VW and BMW, for example, had to reduce production temporarily due to the slow delivery of wiring harnesses from the Ukraine.

Ukraine War: No impairment at other Mercedes plants

Mercedes-Benz had already adjusted the shift planning in some areas of Sindelfingen at the beginning of the month.

The spokeswoman said there were no impairments in other German plants.

Among other things, they work with suppliers in the Ukraine who supply various components for vehicle production.

The manufacturer is in close contact with suppliers in order to work together on "solutions to secure our supply chains".

This also includes the relocation of certain productions to other supplier locations.
