Hamburg Airport is setting up a free short-term parking area – and giving travelers ten minutes in the “Kiss&Fly” zone to say goodbye.

Hamburg – Farewell is a sharp sword, pop singer Roger Whittaker already knew.

It is not for nothing that train stations and airports play a major role in many tearjerkers.

Hamburg Airport* is now fulfilling its great responsibility in relationship matters and is setting up a “Kiss&Fly” parking area.

From May, lovers will be given a full ten minutes of free kissing time, reports 24hamburg.de.

"Kiss & Fly": Hamburg Airport gives lovers 7 minutes of kissing time

The airport in Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel has been a source of grief to many travelers lately - be it because the strike spoiled their vacation or because they had to be patient and spend a lot of time going through security checks.

But in addition to the good news for holidays in 2022, that there are three new flight destinations from Hamburg Airport, there is now also the good news of the free "Kiss&Fly" parking zones for lovers.

New "Kiss & Fly" parking zone at Hamburg Airport gives travelers a full ten minutes to say goodbye

Of course, the new zone in the departure zone can also be used by bringers and departing passengers who do not kiss.

From mid-May, the new, free short stop zone will finally ensure stress-free farewells.

Instead of the previous three, everyone now gets ten minutes free (parking) time to separate.

However, if saying goodbye or kissing goodbye takes longer, it quickly becomes expensive.

Hamburg Airport: If the goodbye kiss lasts longer than ten minutes, it quickly becomes expensive

If you stick to the ten-minute limit, you can drive straight out of the car park without having to go to the pay station.

However, if you need longer, you have to pay at one of the six payment machines with an EC or credit card, via Google or Apple Pay or in cash: Up to 15 minutes "extension" costs three euros, after that it is billed every five minutes - with a whopping two euros each.

"Kiss & Fly": kissing for free in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and other European airports

At other German airports, for example in Cologne-Bonn, Düsseldorf or Frankfurt, there are already free ten-minute smooch parking zones.

And if you have to say goodbye to your loved one from another European country, according to Globehunters' Kiss&Fly fee overview, you even have 15 minutes to do so at a total of 27 airports.

After all, 58 airports offer five minutes free parking and three even give the bringers half an hour to say goodbye free of charge.

In Hamburg, too, saying “Bye” is now a – if not less painful – then at least cheaper affair.

Provided, of course, that the strike at Hamburg Airport does not mean that your loved one's departure is canceled anyway.
