Aldi goes into the next price round.

The discounter has again increased the prices for a number of products.

And for the second time this week.

Essen – less than a week ago, Aldi* Nord and Aldi Süd made headlines with an absolute price hammer.

However, this was not a super savings offer from the discounters, but a sharp price increase.

160 products, with variants such as different flavors even 400 products, made the discounters more expensive.

Now the second round of prizes will probably follow.

Aldi: 50 more products will be more expensive

As the

Lebensmittelzeitung

reports, the price of another 20 to 30 products was increased from Monday to Wednesday (March 21 to 23).

With variants it was around 50. The well-known discounter has increased the price of around 450 items within a week and thus also set the direction for the competition.

Because this has now followed suit.

The products that now cost more are diverse.

Aldi now demands more for both its own brands and well-known branded products.

The Fuze-Tea iced tea, for example, now costs 1.49 euros instead of 1.39 euros previously.

Organic lentils, Almare smoked salmon and own-brand razor blades have also become 10 cents more expensive.

Ukraine crisis makes fixed price agreements a thing of the past

Trade managers believe that this will not be the end of the price hikes, however, reports

Lebensmittelzeitung

.

One speaks of a paralysis that has now resolved.

After all, both the increased raw material prices and the high energy prices are weighing heavily on the market.

The Ukraine war* has resulted in an absolutely exceptional situation, which means that short-term increases are possible despite annual price agreements.

Dealers are giving in more and more frequently - even though they were fighting bitter price wars with producers just a few months ago.

"Fixed agreements for a whole year are almost completely eliminated because both sides realize that this is currently not possible," explains the sales manager of a brand manufacturer.
