Donovan Carrillo abandons the World Championship when his skates do not arrive on time

Donovan Carrillo is an athlete against adversity, although this time he has experienced the nightmare of athletes.

The Mexican was forced to give up his free skate competition because his skates did not arrive on time.

It was not just any competition, it was the World Championship in Montpellier, France, which began this Thursday in the men's category.

Since the beginning of the week, the charismatic Carrillo had arrived in the French city to prepare for his competition.

“Friends, I want to share with you that these days I have felt worried because the suitcase in which I documented my skates has not yet arrived,” he wrote on his Instagram account last Tuesday.

The Guadalajara native resigned himself to training his routines on a hard tennis court.

The Mexican Olympic Committee had reported this Wednesday that Carrillo already had his skates, but hours later he had to retract.

The suitcase with the skates never arrived, as confirmed to EL PAÍS by the athlete's agency.

The routine that the Mexican was going to perform was going to be similar to the one he performed in Beijing with songs by Carlos Santana, Dean Martin, Ricky Martin and Elvis Crespo.

The International Skating Union reported that Carrillo preferred not to compete in the free skate due to "personal problems."

According to the first reports that Olympics has received, the 22-year-old Mexican was offered new skates so that he could compete, however, in this high-performance sport, professionals need to be well adapted to their main tool.
