Finland will send additional military equipment to Ukraine, the Nordic country announced Thursday, March 24, three weeks after a first arms shipment.

", the details of this new delivery will not be made public, explained to AFP Miikka Pynnonen, an adviser to the Ministry of Defense.

On February 28, Finland announced the shipment of 1,500 anti-tank weapons, 2,500 assault rifles and ammunition to support Ukraine against the Russian invasion, breaking with its doctrine of not delivering arms to war zones.

The country, bordering Russia, is currently wondering about a possible candidacy for NATO membership because of the Russian threat, even if Helsinki dismissed a request immediately.

Several countries including the UK, Germany and Sweden this week announced new arms shipments to Ukraine after calls from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for increased military aid.
