Four people were injured in a traffic accident due to the leakage of diesel fuel from a deteriorating tanker on the Damascus-Beirut highway towards Damascus as a result of a technical failure in the vehicle, and the road was partially diverted.
The Ministry of Interior stated, in a statement that SANA received a copy of, that a passenger bus deteriorated due to a fuel leakage from the tanker, which caused the injury of four people who were taken to a Damascus hospital, stressing the efforts of officers and members of the Damascus Countryside Traffic Branch to remove the effects of the accident from the road and facilitate continuous traffic.
Colonel Abdul-Jawad Awad, head of the Damascus Countryside Traffic Branch, stated in a statement to SANA that a technical malfunction in a tanker loaded with diesel led to its deterioration on the road between Al-Sabourah and Al-Sumaria in Damascus countryside and the leakage of diesel fuel on the road.
Colonel Awad pointed out that the road has been partially diverted for large vehicles, pending the completion of the process of spraying sand over the diesel to prevent cars from slipping, indicating work to restore traffic within an hour after making sure the road is ready.
