Drama in the Rambam Shock Room:
A woman in her 30s, in advanced pregnancy, collapsed in her home and was evacuated to the hospital during intensive care by MDA.
The mother was admitted to the shock room with a convulsion, and a multi-professional team was forced to perform both resuscitation and both at the same time to give birth to the child by caesarean section - a rare event in the shock room.
Eventually the large team that was rushed to the shock room and included anesthesiologists, gynecologists, emergency medicine specialists, preterm infants, pediatricians, and nurses was able to restore the pulse to the mother and preterm infant, who also underwent brief resuscitation.
The midwife was hospitalized in the intensive care unit, and gave birth prematurely.
Both are set in a critical condition and breathing.
"We hope that the mother and the preterm infant will recover," Rambam Hospital said.
Doctors believe that the collapse of the midwife at home is due to known background diseases.
