The driver and passenger were taken to Georges-Pompidou Hospital. One victim of a heart attack, the other in hypothermia.

Surreal scene, this Thursday morning, close to the Pont d'Issy-les-Moulineaux.

On the quays, amazed eyes converge on the Seine from which emerges… the back of a truck, a cement mixer from the Unibéton company.

A truck quickly joined by the boats of the firefighters and the river brigade.

It was shortly before 7:30 a.m. that the machine, parked at 102, quai Franklin-Roosevelt, suddenly plunged into the cold waters of the Seine, with the driver and a passenger on board.

“On the images of the video surveillance system, we see the truck start to roll down the slope for no apparent reason, then fall into the water, confides a police source.

According to the first elements, the handbrake would have dropped or was incorrectly applied.

The forthcoming investigation will clarify the causes of the accident.

Luckily, the two occupants of the cement mixer managed to extricate themselves from the cabin while the cement mixer was gradually swallowed up by the waters.

They were then taken care of by the emergency services, which arrived very quickly on the spot.

A cardiac massage was performed on the 44-year-old passenger who was transported to the Georges-Pompidou hospital, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.

A hospital where the driver, 37, a victim of hypothermia, was also admitted.
