The volleyball team from ASV Dachau won 3-0 (16, 18, 12) at VC Zschopau last Saturday.

They are therefore in pole position with a one-point lead going into the decisive game for promotion to the second Bundesliga.

On Saturday, March 26th at 5 p.m. the time has come: in the Georg-Scherer Halle at home against the competitor VC Eltmann.

In Zschopau, the ASV boys performed confidently, unimpressed by the first defeat of the season at VC Eltmann, and gave the hosts from Saxony little chance.

With Luca Russelmann, Tobias Besenböck, Moritz Teichmann, the later MVP Junior Santos, Fabian Bergmoser, Samuel Sadorf and Lenny Graven, the greatest strength of the hosts - their fighting spirit - was prevented from the start.

This ultimately led to clear set successes and another three points.

Coach Patrick Steuerwald said after the game: "I'm very happy today.

It was a very difficult game, especially mentally, which the boys mastered very well.”

From now on, however, the focus is on the decisive home game against Eltmann next Saturday.

And in the ASV camp, you really want to take revenge for the first leg defeat.

With a 3:0 or 3:1 success, the boys of the ASV would no longer be able to take the first place and thus the promotion would be perfect.

With a 3:2 success, you would have a two-point lead over the pursuer Eltmann before the final matchday (away in Eibelstadt) and would therefore have to get at least two more sets, i.e. one point, to secure the promotion place.

A 3:2 defeat would lead to the last match day with the same number of points and a 3:1 or 3:0 ASV defeat would see VC Eltmann make it clear for their part to rise.

However, ASV coach Steuerwald does not want to deal with such arithmetic games: “We have to play volleyball well.

If we can do that, I'm very positive that we'll leave the field as winners.

You could already see in the first leg that it would be super difficult.

Eltmann spared no expense for this game and signed the 2.10 meter tall ex-national player Christian Dünnes as well as the player Dzafic, who has experience in the Bundesliga.”

In time for the showdown, all the injured and sick reported to the ASV fit again under the other diagonal attacker Tobias Besenböck.

In the first leg he had to pass after one and a half sets due to injury, but showed against Zschopau that you can count on him again.

Otherwise, the ASV goes into the last week of training with a full cast.

Only setter Dominik Langbein will have to be replaced by coach Patrick Steuerwald due to injury, as in the weeks before.

Otherwise everyone is on board.

Steuerwald once again appeals to all Dachau residents: "Please come into the hall and support our boys in large numbers and loudly!

The goal announced before the season of promotion to the second Bundesliga is now within reach and the team deserves to crown a very good season with the championship title.

ASV sports director Josef Wolf expects the hall to be completely sold out under corona conditions.

A large number of potential sponsors for the new season have also announced themselves.

Dachau is looking forward to the best volleyball game of the last five years.
