Gauting - More crimes processed, more operations driven and fewer cases cleared up.

But there are also positive things to report in the 2021 balance sheet of the Gauting police station.

The Gauting Police Inspectorate is currently the smallest inspectorate in the district of Starnberg, which will change in the future with the construction of the new inspection building on Ammerseestraße by 2024.

The current service area includes the municipality of Gauting with the districts of Hausen, Unterbrunn and Oberbrunn as well as Gut Hüll, Frohnloh and the district of Pentenried from the municipality of Krailling, which is responsible for exactly 18,343 inhabitants as of December 31, 2021.

795 criminal offenses in the smallest police station in the district of Starnberg

In 2021, a total of 795 criminal offenses were recorded in the Gauting police station.

This corresponds to an increase of 18.7 percent or an increase of 125 crimes compared to 2020. With 350 suspects, around 18.1 percent more suspects (exactly 54 more suspects) were identified than a year earlier.

This puts the burden of criminal offenses on the population in 2021 at a frequency of 4,568 per 100,000 inhabitants, which is a relatively high value compared to neighboring inspections.

The frequency in the entire district of Starnberg is 3,195.

However, this circumstance is due to the fact that the Gauting police station is responsible for the relatively small population of just over 18,000 inhabitants, while the other stations are responsible for significantly more citizens in their respective communities.

In 2021, 64.5 percent fewer crimes could be solved than in the previous year

With 140 cases, theft offenses formed a focal point of the criminal offenses reported.

Compared to the previous year, the number in this area increased by 18.6 percent.

Shoplifting increased by 57.1 percent (from seven to eleven cases) and bicycle theft to 51 cases (up 18.6 percent).

Here, the Gauting Police Inspectorate relies in particular on civilian search measures with the help of the two e-bikes that were only purchased last year.

A key indicator of the population's subjective sense of security is undoubtedly the number of burglaries.

Fortunately, the Gauting Police Inspectorate only recorded a total of 6 cases in 2021, which was exactly the same number as in the previous year and thus continued the low level from previous years.

Significantly more drug offenses in the Gauting area

On the other hand, there has been a significant increase in drug-related offences.

In 2021, the number of drug offenses increased to 77 cases (previous year: 57), which corresponds to an increase of 37.5 percent.

A total of 83 suspects (18 of them female) were identified. This increase is primarily due to the fact that the Gauting police station specifically focused on combating drug-related crime and therefore increased and intensified the number of controls accordingly.

13 cases of distribution of pornographic writings

In 2021, 13 cases of the distribution of pornographic writings were reported within the area of responsibility of the Gauting police station, which corresponds to an increase of 116.7 percent compared to 2020.

This can often be traced back to chat groups of young people, for example via messenger services.

In this area of crime, the Gauting police focus on prevention, particularly through their youth officers in the secondary schools, but also on investigative measures for digital traces.

As a result, judicially ordered searches of suspects’ homes and seizures of digital devices are part of the obligatory follow-up measures.

More forged documents in the pandemic

The effects of the pandemic can also be seen in the forgery of documents, including the use of incorrect health certificates, which accounted for eight offenses last year.

More and more crooks in the online business

The number of cybercrime offenses, i.e. goods fraud, computer fraud and identity theft, has increased again.

There is also an explanation for this, namely that due to the fact that shops have often been closed since March 2020, so many people have never gone on a shopping spree on the Internet. This area of crime, in which more and more crooks with fraudulent intentions are cavorting, has significant growth rates even in the second Corona -year achieved.

Hardly a day went by without at least one report from this area of crime being received in the electronic mail box of the Gautinger Inspectorate.

While in 2020 there were still 309 offenses recorded by the Gauting police station in this field of crime, this number had already risen to 414 offenses in 2021.

Holiday home paid and never heard from the alleged landlord

The supposed bargain on the Internet all too often turns out to be the exact opposite, as can be seen from the example of a supposedly cheap holiday home on a North Sea island in the form of a “fake ad” when the cheap holiday home didn’t even exist there.

A woman from Gautingen (40) wanted to go to the North Sea with her family for the summer holidays, booked a holiday home for 700 euros for a week on the island of Langeoog on the basis of an Ebay classified ad and transferred 460 euros deposit and down payment to a German account she was given – and subsequently never heard from the alleged landlady "Stephanie Hida" again.

Again countless fraudulent calls in the Gauting area

The police in Gauting have had enough of this, for years, very unpleasant crime phenomena “false police officers” and the so-called “shock calls” or the alleged Microsoft employee.

The fraudulent calls regularly come in waves, calling as many as a dozen or more seniors in a single day.

Seniors are now better informed

As a result of the intensive police preventive work, including the "Hang up!" campaign, the number of senior citizens who have been informed and enlightened in advance and who recognize the scams of the tricksters and then promptly report the calls to the real police has increased significantly.
