Eurasburg - A four-year-old BMW X3 burned out completely on the A 95 on Thursday.
The damage to the car amounts to around 30,000 euros, to 6,000 euros on the road.
The embankment and hard shoulder burned over an area of around 60 square meters.
The driver, a Eurasburger, was fortunately unharmed.
The 39-year-old was on his way to Munich at around 5:30 p.m.
Shortly after leaving Fürstenried, the engine went out.
Moments later, smoke billowed from the engine compartment.

He immediately pulled onto the hard shoulder, braked and got out of the car.

Traffic jam on A95: Four-year-old BMW X3 is on fire
The A95 was completely blocked in the direction of Munich.
Heavy smoke and unfavorable winds left apartment blocks west of the freeway blanketed in black, toxic smoke.
The residents were asked by radio announcement to keep windows closed.
Due to the currently prevailing drought, the green strip and embankment were soon on fire.
The notified fire brigade quickly brought the fire on the BMW under control.
Another unit extinguished the embankment fire.
Due to the full closure, a backwater of up to four kilometers in length formed.
Officers in a patrol vehicle secured the end of the traffic jam on the hard shoulder with blue lights and hazard warning lights.
After the first extinguishing, traffic was diverted to the left of three lanes.
The middle lane was then released.
