In the fight against the pandemic, politicians must clarify the procedure.

Lower Saxony has its own opinion on corona rules and is introducing a new corona regulation.

Hanover – Lower Saxony wants to maintain the current corona protection measures and therefore initiate a corona transitional regulation.

These adjusted corona rules should come into force from Saturday (March 19, 2022), a government spokeswoman said on Tuesday (March 15, 2022) according to the German Press Agency (dpa).

In the course of the week, the Corona regulation is to be presented to the social committee of the state parliament.

In the midst of ever increasing numbers of infections, the federal and state governments are struggling to relax the corona virus and find the fundamental way out of the crisis beyond spring.

Before new consultations between Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and the state heads of government on Thursday, March 17, 2022, the traffic light coalition brought its plans to the Bundestag.

Accordingly, from Sunday, March 20, 2022, there should only be a few general corona rules in everyday life.

Home office obligation should fall.

Corona rules in Lower Saxony: the state wants to issue a transitional regulation

Protests and warnings came from countries, the opposition and social organizations.

So also from Lower Saxony.

Prime Minister Stephan Weil has renewed his criticism of the federal government's corona relaxation plan.

"The pandemic is demonstrably not over and it will not be over by the beginning of April either.

That's why we still need the previous set of tools after the transition period," said the SPD politician on Wednesday.

Instead of following the federal government's relaxation of the corona virus, Lower Saxony wants to maintain the current protective measures and has now issued a corona transitional regulation that is to come into force on Saturday, March 19, 2022.

In the course of the week, the ordinance is to be presented to the social committee of the state parliament.

Lower Saxony with new Corona regulation: These Corona rules are up for debate - Freedom Day is cancelled

Although not much is known about the Corona Ordinance and thus the new Corona rules in Lower Saxony, contact restrictions for the unvaccinated should fall with this.

Because they are currently only allowed to meet with a maximum of two people from another household.

Nevertheless, in view of the high incidence figures, Freedom Day in Lower Saxony is cancelled.

Since the draft of the new Federal Infection Protection Act includes the possibility for federal states to set transitional rules by April 2nd, Lower Saxony wants to make use of it.

The federal states would lose numerous options for action, Prime Minister Stephan Weil said recently about the draft.

A spokeswoman explained: “We still have hope that there will be improvements to this federal infection protection law.” The government in Lower Saxony does not currently see the possibility of extending the previous corona measures by the federal government.

Corona loosening: Stephan Weil criticizes the hotspot rule again – “Pandemic is not over”

Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil has renewed his criticism of the federal government's plan to relax the corona virus.

"The pandemic is demonstrably not over and it will not be over by the beginning of April either.

That's why we still need the previous set of tools after the transition period," said the SPD politician.

The planned hotspot regulation is not sufficient in view of the increasing number of infections and patients.

"It is impractical that the state government and state parliament should set specific measures for individual districts or independent cities," said Weil.

The state government must also be able to determine the conditions for the risk of a dynamic infection situation nationwide.

Corona loosening in Lower Saxony: "Hotspot regulation prevention regulation"

In the form envisaged by the federal government, it is a “hotspot regulation prevention regulation”.

So far, Lower Saxony has done well during the pandemic by taking preventive measures at an early stage whenever this seemed necessary.

“We have to stick to that,” emphasized Weil.

A spokesman for the State Chancellery added that it was still unclear whether Lower Saxony would reject the federal draft in the Bundesrat.

Coordinations are currently being held with other country heads, and there is good hope that changes can still be achieved.

"We are simply sending a strong signal that the previous considerations in Berlin are not enough for us," said the spokesman.

On Thursday (March 17, 2022), the federal and state governments want to discuss which corona rules should apply in Germany beyond March 20.

Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP) and Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) had agreed that most of the restrictions should be lifted by that date.
