Things are getting tight for Frankfurt's Lord Mayor.
Even his own party is moving away from him more and more.
It's time for him to begin his retreat.
A comment.
Frankfurt – It gets lonely around Peter Feldmann.
Even his own party, the SPD*, is increasingly distancing itself from Frankfurt's mayor, seeing him as a burden on the city and the party - and saying so more and more openly.
Soon Feldmann could be completely isolated.
After the indictment, it is very likely that Feldmann will actually have to answer in court on suspicion of accepting an advantage*.
But how does a mayor in the dock adequately represent Germany's fifth-largest city, conduct successful negotiations, set political accents?
Frankfurt: It is time for Feldmann to draw conclusions
Peter Feldmann started out with big promises – and he certainly achieved something.
For example in housing policy, where he pushed through a rent cap at the municipal housing company ABG against great resistance.
But how will he try to achieve his political goals if the coalition no longer wants to work with him?
It is time for Feldmann to draw conclusions and initiate a retreat himself.
Otherwise the coalition – including its own party – will take over.

Within the SPD in Frankfurt, members have to justify the indictment of Mayor Peter Feldmann.
