They were brutally involved in the Ukraine war: Ramzan Kadyrov's mercenary army.

But Putin's "bloodhounds" have suffered losses - and are suddenly changing tactics.

Kyiv – They are planning attacks on politicians in the Ukraine war and are brutally taking action against the civilian population: the private army of Chechnya's rebel leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

But after an initial public behavior, it has suddenly become quiet about the mercenary troupe.

According to military analysts, the so-called "bloodhounds" in the service of Vladimir Putin suffered enormous losses in the fighting, as kreizeitung.de reports.

Ramzan Akhmatovitch Kadyrov

President of Chechnya

Age:

45 years

Wife:

Medni Musaevna Kadyrova

"Kadyrov appears to have been shocked by the level of Ukrainian resistance and it appears that dozens if not hundreds of his people were killed," Aleksandre Kvakhadze of Georgia's Foundation for Strategic and International Studies told the British Guardian.

For Russian President Vladimir Putin, this is another major setback in his military strategy.

Russia-Ukraine War: Ramzan Kadyrov's mercenaries pay high price for supporting President Vladimir Putin

The mercenary force is estimated to have around 12,000 fighters.

The private army is officially led by Ramzan Kadyrov, President of the Autonomous Republic of Chechnya.

In the last war with Russia, the fighter stood by President Vladimir Putin – and helped him to victory.

Kadyrov has been firmly at Putin's side since these days and does the dirty work with his "bloodhounds" - probably also in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Kadyrov's followers are usually extremely brutal and considered unscrupulous.

Already when Crimea was annexed in 2014, they are said to have supported the Russian troops in the fight against Ukraine.

Russia-Ukraine war: Kadyrov probably sends thousands of fighters to the crisis area

Undoubtedly they are now active again in the invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine.

It is true that many of the statements cannot currently be independently verified.

But early in the war, Kadyrov boasted himself on social media, confirming that he had sent thousands of fighters to the Russia-Ukraine war.

Apparently, the bloodhounds were tasked with hunting down Ukrainian politicians.

This is how death lists circulate.

At the top is President Volodymyr Zelenskyj, against whom several assassination attempts have already been planned and foiled.

In an attempted attack by Ukrainian security forces, Chechen Kadyrov fighters were apparently also killed.

Ramzan Kadyrov: President of Chechnya surprised by resistance in Russia-Ukraine war

In the first days of the Russia-Ukraine war, the mercenaries from Chechnya are said to have been heavily involved in the fighting, for example around Mariupol or Kyiv.

But in the fighting they are said to have suffered heavy losses, reports the news channel n-tv, citing Ukrainian intelligence information.

"They were very present at the beginning of the conflict but have not taken part in firefights since then," Ruslan Leviev, a security expert and founder of the investigative platform Conflict Intelligence Team, is quoted in the report as saying.

This coincides with other reports from the front.

Basically, the advance of the Russian forces in the war has stalled.

In a situation report, NATO estimates the losses among Russian troops at 7,000 to 15,000 soldiers killed since the beginning of the attack, many more were wounded and disabled, reported merkur.de.

Apparently, the Russian leadership has been taken by surprise by the scale of the Ukrainian resistance, which is largely led by General Valery Zalushny.

It was also said that Putin's advisers are now "nervous" because the war is gradually turning into a debacle.

Losses in the Ukraine-Russia war: Putin's bloodhounds use a PR strategy to recruit new fighters for the private army

The Kadyrov troops are now trying to make up for the losses and recruit new recruits.

According to research by the investigative platform Conflict Intelligence Team, the fighters are now the main focus of attention on social networks.

They post pictures of themselves with guns, but an analysis of the background and metadata, according to the Guardian report, showed that they were not on the front lines of the Russia-Ukraine war.

The experts suspect that behind this is a PR strategy in the propaganda war to replenish the ranks.

That is why high payments are openly advertised.

"They are trying very hard to mobilize volunteers," analyst Kvakhadze said of the recruitment attempts by Putin's bloodhounds under Kadyrov.

But evaluation of Telegram and data leaks indicated that "this is unsuccessful".
