As a reaction to the federal government's push for a 9-euro monthly ticket for local public transport, the conference of transport ministers brought a zero-tariff ticket into play.
The Mobility Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Katrin Eder (Greens), also spoke out in favor of examining such a solution on Friday, since the introduction of the 9-euro ticket would involve a great deal of administrative work.
Bremen/Mainz - "In order to be able to realize the desired rapid relief for citizens, I think the initiative of the conference of transport ministers to examine the introduction of a zero-euro ticket for three months is right," said Eder.
Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) emphasized that the coalition committee had also dealt with such a zero-tariff solution the day before.
In the end, however, the committee opted for the 9-euro variant.
