More active than ever

Altenerding - The Altenerding fire brigade has managed almost 300 operations and is currently experiencing a good influx.

Today, Friday, the members meet for the annual general meeting.

In the first year of Corona, the operations of the Altenerding fire brigade fell to their lowest level in years.

In 2021, life returned to normal a little - the volunteers promptly had more to do.

Although social life was hardly possible, the number of people joining the base fire brigade was enormous.

The forces were alerted 289 times last year, 31 times more than in 2020. These included 36 (2020: 35) fires.

Technical assistance was called out 178 times (176), for example after traffic accidents or storm damage.

Operations in the area of ​​NBC hazardous substances rose to 23. What annoys commander and city fire chief Stephan Stanglmaier: The number of false alarms has skyrocketed – from 28 to 41. What he regrets: Because there were hardly any celebrations in 2021 due to the pandemic, only one security guard took place.

In the first Corona year there was none.

A total of 5,138 hours were worked, almost 700 more than the year before.

The Altenerdinger fire brigade deploys across the district as a base fire brigade and support group for local operations management.

However, eight out of ten alarms affected the city area, 67 percent took place during the day.

The oil rescue platoon stationed in Altenerding can even be requested from outside the district.

In 2021 there were several cases in which leaking hazardous substances threatened rivers.

The volunteers will remember the flood at the end of August, when the spa hotel flooded.

Stanglmaier and his deputy Christopher Nusko are happy that the emergency services only suffered a few minor injuries, but no serious injuries.

Corona has made practice enormously difficult.

Nevertheless, the Altenerdinger fire brigade held 109 of its own simulations.

Almost 3000 hours came together.

Four comrades attended one of the state fire service schools, and 86 volunteers took part in 27 training events at county and district level.

Speaking of active people: the fire brigade currently has more people to fall back on than it has in decades: 121 between the ages of 16 and 65.

For comparison: in 2005 there were only 72.

In the youth group, an additional 49 young people between the ages of twelve and 15 are introduced to the tasks of the fire brigade.

The fire service still has to be patient with its currently largest project - the construction of a new tool shed on Münchener Straße.

But they are "confident," they say.

This year the procurement of an additional team car should finally start.

Club life was inevitably much more monotonous.

The regulars' tables were able to take place in the summer, but the festivals, which bring important income to the association, all fell victim to the virus.

After the Annual General Meeting was canceled in 2020, it had to be postponed several times the following year before it could still be held in autumn - with Karsten Metzger as the new chairman.

And the club's cycling excursion also took place.

In 2024, the 150th anniversary of the fire brigade will be duly celebrated.

will take place this Friday at 7.30 p.m. at the Lindenwirt in Bergham.

In addition to the reports of the commander and the board of directors, amendments to the articles of association are on the agenda.
