, a painting by Chardin sold on March 23 for the record sum of 24.3 million euros (including fees) to New York art dealer Adam Williams.
Yesterday, Laurence des Cars, president and director of the Louvre, announced to
Le Figaro
that she was positioning herself for this masterpiece of still life from the famous Marcille collection.
"
We are fully mobilized to bring it into national collections,"
she says.
