The Russian army has published a map of the lands it has controlled since the start of the special military operation to protect the Donbass region, showing that it has imposed a siege on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and the second largest Ukrainian city, Kharkov.
The website of Russia Today channel quoted the Russian Ministry of Defense as saying today, "The special operation to protect the residents of the Donbass region is proceeding according to its schedule, while avoiding losses among the Russian military and civilians, and by relying on high-precision weapons," noting that the Russian forces took control of most of the territories of Kherson and Zaporizhia provinces in eastern Ukraine. It also imposed a siege on the capital, Kyiv, and the strategic coastal cities of Kharkov, Chernigov, Sumy and Nikolaev.
The ministry confirmed that the most important goals of the first phase of the Russian special military operation have been accomplished, inflicting 30,000 dead and wounded on Ukrainian forces, destroying the Ukrainian air defense system and eliminating the naval forces completely.
