New York-Sana
Iran renewed its call for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of foreign forces present in Syria illegally.
Iranian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht Ravanchi said in a speech before a meeting of the UN Security Council yesterday evening, "The crisis in Syria cannot be resolved without ending the occupation and uprooting terrorist threats, and it is not possible to endanger Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity under the pretext of fighting terrorism. The illegal occupation, including the American forces, must leave this country immediately and without any restrictions or conditions.”
He added, "Iran condemns once again the looting of the wealth and natural resources of the Syrian people, especially oil and agricultural crops in the areas occupied by foreign forces," noting that this criminal act is a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the Charter of the United Nations.
Rawanji also condemned the continuous Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, calling on the UN Security Council to hold the Zionist entity accountable towards it, as well as its blatant threats to use force against the countries of the region, which endangers security and peace in the region.
Rawanji stressed the need to immediately end the embargo and illegal and destructive practices against Syria, pointing out that imposing unilateral coercive measures against the Syrian people has led to disastrous consequences on all aspects of living.
"This matter contradicts Resolution 2585 issued by the UN Security Council, including early recovery projects, which are crucial for the Syrian people and for the return of the displaced to their homes," he said.
