The Tutzing fire brigade proves to be a versatile helper in numerous life situations.

Those responsible are happy about the increase in membership – especially in the youth fire brigade.

When the ground starts to slide - like here on the Oberanger in Tutzing near the railway tracks in summer 2021 - the fire brigade is on the spot.

Tutzing

– When people no longer know what to do, they call the fire brigade.

The voluntary helpers, together with the Tutzingen hospital, helped a little boy who couldn't get a curtain eyelet off his finger with ring cutters.

Another child was freed by the fire brigade with cordless shears from a cat bin in which it had lost its head.

"There was a cuddly toy as a consolation," says the Tutzing fire brigade commander Christoph Knobloch in the annual report, which lists 136 missions in the past year.

Most of the emergency services, more than 30 people each, were deployed to deal with a roof truss fire in Feldafing and a pellet bunker fire in Tutzing.

Lists in the annual report show what else happened.

Examples are a gas leak in a building, leaking fuel, burning smell, water rescue with missing persons, abandoned horses, a truck that has slipped, a rescue including elevator opening, the fall of a person, flooded streets, a subway or basement that is flooded with water, sandbags for Severe weather – and a number of traffic accidents.

In July, a truck with the hook of a swap body system got stuck on the Heinrich-Vogl-Strasse underpass.

Once a police vehicle crashed while pursuing young people in the forest - the automatic transmission locked,

the engine was no longer functional.

In Unterzeismering, the fire brigade was called to help because a slope had slipped below the railway line.

The railway was closed - a sensational event.

The Tutzing fire brigade had 241 members as of the end of 2021 - 15 more than at the beginning of the year.

The number of active club members increases from 98 to 112 people.

Chairman Boris Wolff was happy about newcomers, especially in the youth fire brigade, which has grown from 17 to 25 members.

However, the corona pandemic has changed a lot.

Wolff reported on a club life regulated under strict conditions.

The regulations of the Infection Protection Act would have allowed face-to-face training to maintain operational readiness, but the majority of managers had great concerns.

"A major reason for this was certainly the lack of knowledge about the vaccination status of the fire service personnel," says Wolff.

The camaraderie also had to suffer greatly from the restrictions.

Regular participation in exercises and operations can be expected for the majority of the team, even if some fire service personnel are “almost never” seen.

The pandemic even brought about good developments, Wolff noted.

The establishment of home office in all conceivable areas also brings a better chance of having sufficient staff for the assignments during the day.

The annual general meeting took place in digital form, as did the new election a year ago, in which Christoph Knobloch replaced the long-standing commander Markus Kuisl.

Wolff expressed great appreciation for the three equipment operators of the Tutzing fire brigade, above all Andreas Ott and Markus Kuisl.

The service of the respiratory protection workshop was expanded in 2021.

Since October, the breathing apparatus of the Andechs fire brigades have also been serviced in Tutzing, as well as those of the Traubing and Feldafing fire brigades.
