The war in Ukraine has also reached Egling.

20 refugees have ended up in the larger community so far.

And there will certainly be many more.

Egling

– Solidarity with Ukraine is also great in Egling.

As Mayor Hubert Oberhauser reported at the council meeting on Tuesday, around 20 war refugees have arrived in the community so far.

It probably won't stay that way.

"In the beginning it was said that between 500 and 1,200 refugees could be expected for the district," said Oberhauser.

"We now know that it will be many times over."

Municipality makes neighborhoods ready for occupancy

In order to be able to offer the newcomers a roof over their heads, the municipality has made the emergency shelter intended for the homeless in Deining ready for occupancy.

Refugees will also soon be able to find accommodation in the old school building in Thanning.

According to Oberhauser, the church is also making its contribution and providing premises in Deining and Endlhausen.

The vicarage in Thanning is an exception because there are “burdens in there”.

The willingness to help in the community is great: the VdK, together with the neighborhood help, organized a big fundraiser.

Next weekend, Municipal Councilor Florian Sperl will drive to Poland with an aid transport.

The trip was actually planned a week ago, but had to be postponed due to illness.

Oberhauser quoted from the experience report of his Wolfratshausen colleague Klaus Heilinglechner, who drove to the twin town of Brody in a convoy and summed up his impressions with the sentence: "When you see what's going on over there, a lot of what we're dealing with here is put into perspective. Despite everything, the head of the town hall demonstrated optimism: "You have to reckon with everyone, but we are up to the challenge."
