Another staff member of the "Tong Le Ju" child abuse case under the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children has been arrested. The Police Regional Crime Squad in Kowloon West continues to follow up the investigation. Today (25th), two more people, aged 49 and 57, were arrested in Mong Kok District. A female nursing home staff member, aged 31, was suspected of abusing or neglecting children or juveniles in her care.

Police said the two were arrested for allegedly turning a blind eye to the incident. They have been released on bail pending investigation and must report to the police in late April.

The police also said they have completed the current stage of the investigation, and a total of 34 people have been arrested in the case, involving a total of 40 children.

On December 22 last year, the police received a report from Tong Le Ju, claiming to have received a complaint from the public that a staff member abused children at the outdoor playground of the institution.

The police immediately launched an investigation, seized and reviewed CCTV footage, and found that some children were abused by staff members by beating, pulling their hair, slapping them, knocking children to the ground, or "burying them in walls".

As the case involved a large number of CCTV footage, the West Kowloon Criminal Headquarters set up a special team earlier to review more than 60,000 hours of footage.
