Within the framework of developing the telecommunications sector and improving the quality of service provided to subscribers, the Syrian Telecom Company is working to implement many activities and projects that meet the needs of all segments, most notably the (Viber Net) service, both types of home and business that need high speeds, such as ministries, institutions, government and private companies and embassies.
And the Director of Marketing at Syrian Telecom Firas Al-Baden said in a statement to SANA reporter that (Viber Net) is to deliver the Internet to subscribers via optical fibers instead of copper networks, at speeds of up to 100 megabytes per second, where the speed of (home Fiber Net) ranges between 8 and 16 megabytes, while The speed of (Viber Net Business) reaches 100) megabytes per second.
The number of subscribers to the (Viber Net Home) service to date, according to Al-Badeen, has reached more than 1,500, and there are many requests currently under implementation, while the number of (Viber Net Business) subscribers has reached nearly 700, indicating that the service is available in the governorates of Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama. Tartous, Lattakia and As-Suwayda, and it will be available soon in Daraa, and there is a current study to provide it in Deir ez-Zor as well, in addition to plans to expand the provision of the service in the coming years.
Al-Badin pointed out that the monthly prices for this service are 30,000 Syrian pounds for a speed of eight megabytes, and 397 thousand pounds for a speed of 100 megabytes, and when the subscriber consumes the entire size of the specified package, the service will not be cut off from him, but the speed is reduced until his account is charged with the size of a new package, indicating that the installation fees are paid for one time. Its value is 75,000 pounds for (home Fibernet) and 350,000 pounds for (Vibernet Business), and that the price adjustment is related to the costs of securing the service.
Al-Badin explained that subscription to the service is done by submitting an application by the person concerned or his legal representative duly in the communications branch in the governorate in which the applicant resides. As interference factors, in addition to providing very high speeds that suit all needs, starting from browsing and downloading large files, and allowing the subscriber to request a television broadcasting service.
