During the operation, Customs arrested male students aged 14 and 15, and a 49-year-old female employee of a logistics company.

Li Jiaming, the Superintendent of the Narcotics Investigation Division of the Customs Narcotics Division, explained the case that Hong Kong Customs and overseas law enforcement agencies exchanged intelligence and conducted risk assessments, and selected and inspected a shipping container that arrived in Hong Kong from Costa Rica and was reported to contain a power transformer.

The container arrived in Hong Kong on February 26. The officers of the Customs Narcotics Investigation Division and the Port and Maritime Division jointly operated. The officers checked the transformer with an X-ray machine. The image showed that there were different components in the transformer, but some of the components were tilted, which aroused the suspicion of Customs officers. In addition, the Group also filled the transformer with oil, hoping to present the transformer as much as possible to increase the difficulty of inspection by law enforcement officers.
