Numerous refugees from Ukraine have been arriving in Munich for weeks.

That brings up a lot of questions.

15 of them are answered here.

Munich – In the past week, around 6,000 refugees from Ukraine arrived at Munich Central Station*.

Many travel on independently, but some remain in Munich* - and are accommodated here in interim accommodation in the city or privately.

That brings up a lot of questions.

Here are the answers to 15 of the most important ones.

I live for rent and could take in refugees.

Do I have to discuss this with my landlord?

Not at first.

From a period of six to eight weeks, permission must be obtained, unless the refugees belong to their own families.

Can I decide for myself who I record?

Personal mediation takes place at the Munich Volunteers Association.

Important: that it fits from both sides.

What requirements do I need?

A private room or an apartment is better.

"But for a shorter period of time - for example when traveling through - a couch is also helpful," says the association.

The sleeping space provided is needed again, what to do?

At best, this will be clarified before the mediation.

Otherwise please contact the arrival center of the city of Munich (Hotel Regent, Seidlstraße 2).

Ukraine crisis: There is also financial compensation for sleeping places for refugees

What if I don't get along with the recorded ones?

If this is not possible, the person who fled can also submit an application to the arrival center of the city of Munich.

The refugees can live with me longer, what do we have to do?

The Ukrainians should register with their place of residence in the Citizens' Registration Office (KVR).

To do this, you need to make an appointment online.

Do I get financial support from the state if I provide sleeping places?

Yes, this is what the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act provides.

This must be requested by the refugee.

Do the refugees have liability insurance?

No, this is not covered by the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act.

Do those who fled get clothing and food?

Refugees can get groceries once a week from the Münchner Tafel (telephone 0800 - 2 00 44 60).

Clothing is available from the clothing stores of Diakonia Munich.

A Ukrainian refugee would like to work in Munich: is that possible?

Working is only possible with a residence permit.

For this you have to register your place of residence.

Ukraine war: Those who have fled can be vaccinated against Corona free of charge

I have a job to offer – gladly to a refugee.

Send such offers to muenchen.ofis.ukrayina@arbeitsagentur.de.

The Ukrainians are traumatized – where can they get help?

First aid, how best to deal with it as a recipient, and the number for an advice line is available online at www.refugio-muenchen.de/ukraine/.

How long will the exhibition halls be used as refugee accommodation?

No information can be found about this yet.

One thing is clear: People should not stay longer in the emergency shelter.

How many arrivals have tested positive so far?

According to the health department, all arrivals receive a quick test when they register.

There are PCR tests in collective accommodation.

Those who test positive are isolated – currently there are 800.

Can Ukrainians get vaccinated in Munich?

Corona vaccinations are free of charge in the vaccination center and in all vaccination branches in the city of Munich.

In addition, mobile teams also vaccinate directly in the accommodation.
