"Z" symbol: Hamburg's CDU calls for criminal consequences

Wearing or displaying the "Z" symbol is considered consenting to Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
Now it should have consequences in Hamburg.

Now Hamburg's CDU faction leader Dennis Thering wants to criminalize the use of the "Z" symbol, as reported by 24hamburg.de.
The symbol is considered a sign of approval of the Russian invasion.

“Z” symbol: Thering demands consequences – symbol already banned in other federal states
Thering is demanding something for Hamburg that has already happened in Bavaria and Lower Saxony, where Putin propaganda has already been banned, and is also being demanded in North Rhine-Westphalia and Thuringia - as reported by the magazine Katapult.
In view of the "disgusting" war in Ukraine, it is important to ban public "confessions and warmongering propaganda in the form of symbols and letters from the public in Hamburg," said Thering, according to a statement by the German Press Agency on Sunday, March 27, 2022 .

Thering therefore called for consequences for wearing or displaying the "Z" symbol.
“Anyone who uses the 'Z' symbol to express sympathy for Putin's war of aggression must know in future that they could be liable to prosecution,” emphasized Thering.

The "Z" is emblazoned on many cars in Russia.
In social networks, celebrities also add a capitalized "Z" to their names, the dpa reports.
The letters in Cyrillic do not exist at all.
Thering justified his initiative as follows: "Our solidarity is with the Ukrainian population and the refugees of this hideous war," said Thering.
