The militant Islamist Taliban continue to restrict public life in Afghanistan: According to an announcement by the Islamists, amusement parks in the capital Kabul and the surrounding area may in future only be visited separately by women and men.
This was announced by the Taliban Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice on Sunday.
According to a timetable published by the ministry, women are allowed to enter from Sunday to Tuesday and only wear an Islamic hijab.
Men are allowed to visit amusement parks from Wednesday to Saturday.
Since returning to power in mid-August 2021, the Taliban have imposed increasingly strict regulations on public life.
Women should not be allowed to travel more than 45 miles (about 72 kilometers) without a male companion.
As a result, in many cases women are no longer able to return to their jobs.
The Taliban also recently imposed a flight ban on Afghan women without a male companion.
Girls are also not allowed to go to school from the 7th grade.
During the first Taliban rule from 1996 to 2001, women and girls were almost completely excluded from education and work outside the home.
But some women are currently fighting back: On Saturday, two dozen demonstrators had demanded the reopening of secondary schools for girls.
The Taliban's decision last week to reverse this decision shortly after the official reopening of secondary schools for girls drew sharp criticism from Western countries and the EU.
Western countries make recognition of the Taliban government dependent, among other things, on progress in women's rights.
