This celebration, which is organized by the Directorate of Theaters and Music in the Ministry of Culture, took on the stage of Al-Hamra Theater the panoramic view of the mothers of international plays through a work titled “Another Place” prepared by Youssef Sharkawy and directed by Suhair Barhoum.

The artist Ali Al-Qasim, who played the role of the narrator, wished that the playwrights and their experiences would be renewed despite all the difficulties that the theater suffers from, because our artists sculpt with rock so that the Syrian theater continues its message of life. Participation in any theatrical performance that achieves a special pulse bears love and loyalty to the theater, which brings together loyal people who do not abandon it, no matter how great the temptations are.

The artist, Abeer Bitar, indicated that she was very happy to celebrate World Theater Day on stage with the director, whom she considers her godmother, while the artist, Rogina Rahmoun, indicated that the work team was keen to present a worthy celebration on the occasion of World Theater Day despite all difficulties.

The owner of the ceremonial music, the composer Nazih Asaad considered that what distinguished the work was the diversity in the atmosphere of the dramatic scenes presented, which necessitated the presentation of multiple musical possibilities commensurate with the theatrical spectacle, which achieved fun to present music that integrates with the rest of the elements.

Actors Rabab Merhej, Firas Al-Salloum, Youssef Abdi and Yahya Darawshe participated in the celebration. The Miral Dance Theater Company was supervised by Jamal Turkmani and Muhammad Traboulsi, and the decor was designed by Kinan Joud.

In Homs, the celebration of Theater Day, which was hosted by the Palace of Culture, was marked by the public presence and diversity by presenting a theatrical show and delivering a speech that resonates on this occasion in various stages in the countries of the world.

The artist Zinati Qudsiya gave a speech on the world stage by international director Peter Sellers, in which he stated that theater is the artistic form of experience in a world overwhelmed by extensive press campaigns and speculation, while inviting all creators to join the theater system while keeping pace with change, awareness, reflection and epic vision in this period of human history.

Qudsia, who congratulated theater workers in the world on this occasion, called them to open their eyes to our rightful Arab causes and to be convinced that we are ancient peoples with distinguished cultures that should pay attention and benefit from them.

After that, the Directorate of Theaters and Music presented the National Theater in Homs with the show “The Sheep,” written by Stanislav Stratiev and directed by Zine El Abidine Tayyar. The show dealt with the phenomena that hinder the progress and development of society such as corruption, bureaucracy and red tape in the work of institutions in a satirical way.

Amin Roumieh, head of the branch of the Artists Syndicate in Homs, expressed in a statement to SANA reporter the syndicate’s keenness to transform the celebration of the International Day of Theater into an artistic event that all playwrights, intellectuals and the loving public would celebrate by presenting performances in partnership with the Directorates of Culture, Theaters and Music and the National Theater in Homs.


In Hama, the Creative Professionals Troupe presented on the stage of the city’s Palace of Culture a show entitled “Colorful Variations from the World Stage” as part of the celebration held by the branch of the Artists Syndicate in the governorate.


For more than seventy minutes, the audience followed the events of the show prepared and directed by Sakhr Kulthum, where he explained to SANA reporter that his work is scenes inspired by the world stage and scenes he wrote from the Epic of Gilgamesh, the scene of the families of Queen Zenobia, the suicide of Romeo and Juliet, and a scene from a work being prepared entitled “Demon.” And a human being” and an expressive dance about the state of conflict between good and evil concludes the show.

Muammar al-Saadi, head of the Artists Syndicate branch, described the show as good, which includes promising theatrical youth, heralding a good movement in Hama, who needs expertise to continue presenting fine art.

In Aleppo, the Artists Syndicate Theater hosted a celebration that included a reading of the World Theater Day message and honoring a number of theatrical artists, in addition to an accompanying exhibition titled “Greetings to the late writer Walid Ikhlasi” and presenting a work titled The Drama of Al-Shahadin.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, the artist, Mohsen Ghazi, the head of the Artists Syndicate, said the importance of theater as it is an art that penetrates into human hearts and works on building human awareness based on the saying “give me a theater and I will give you a people,” pointing out that the city of Aleppo beats with art and advances creativity in various fields.

Abdel Halim Hariri, head of the branch of the Artists Syndicate in Aleppo, spoke about the importance of celebrating this occasion, as theater is one of the most important arts with a purposeful and important message.

Among the honored artists, Ghassan Makkansi expressed the importance of theater for him as it was part of his life through many years of acting and directing, noting the importance of this demonstration, especially in the city of Aleppo, which is considered the city of art, history and civilization, while the artist Sundus Mawardi expressed her happiness with this honor and her pride in what she was able to achieve. From a niche among theatrical artists.

In As-Suwayda, the National Theater organized a celebration on the stage of the Palace of Culture in the city, during which the playwright Hani al-Atrash gave a speech on the world stage.

The Director of Suwayda Culture, Laila Abu Fakhr, spoke about the theater, the father of arts, and its eternal joy in the age of technology through its ability to touch hearts and achieve an intellectual impact on the conscience, with reference to its role in creating a balance between modernity and originality and addressing current issues boldly with the aim of constructive reform and defending national identity in the face of Globalization and openness to cultures.

In turn, the director of the National Theater in As-Suwayda, theatrical director, Rifaat Al-Hadi, referred to the SANA reporter about the development witnessed by the theatrical movement in the governorate during the last period and the writers, actors and directors it embraced, and the keenness of the National Theater in As-Suwayda to present performances every month to promote and devote the culture of this art to the audience.

The celebration included a theatrical performance entitled “Our Wasif” directed by Firas Hatem, in addition to honoring a number of personalities who had an effective contribution to enriching and supporting the theatrical movement in the governorate.
