The museum "Shift Works - Time Travel in the Wersonhaus" in Gilching celebrated its fifth anniversary at the weekend.

Gilching

– Gilching's Mayor Manfred Walter raved about a "beautiful museum" on Saturday on the occasion of the fifth birthday of the museum "Shift Works - Time Travel in the Werson House".

Meanwhile, stage poet Heike Harms delighted with her "Walk through the Fair of the Ages".

Around 30 guests gathered in the garden of the Wersonhaus on Saturday evening as the outside temperatures began to drop.

The opening took over Meike Harms, Bavarian champion in poetry slam.

She earned sustained applause for her humorous foray into fictitious junk shops with detours to the Layer Works Museum.

"You can't buy anything here, but you can experience impressively how Gilching has developed in its 4000-year history," she managed to make a successful transition to the actual occasion of the festival.

The laudatory speech was given by Manfred Walter.

In his review, he went into the year 2015, which was decisive for the founding of the museum.

Until then, the Society for Archeology and Local History, founded under Rudi Schicht in 2003, had done a lot of preparatory work.

Among other things, the “Via Zeitreise” cycle path was opened, excavations and field inspections took place and a number of festivals were celebrated.

However, the focus was always on its own museum, also as home to three well-preserved skeletons, which made a name for themselves as Kiltis in the world of archaeologists.

"Yes, and then the rooms in the Wersonhaus became free," said Walter.

However, the supporters of the museum under the chairman of the association, Annette Reindel, had competition in the music school, which also applied to move in.

Walter: “There was a long discussion in the municipal council.

In the end, the contract went to the archaeological association with one vote.

Would it have gone differently

There was much praise from Dr.

Sabine Mayer from the State Office for Monument Protection.

Not only Annette Reindel as museum director, but also the many volunteers did "great work" and made a significant contribution to the success, she emphasized.

Reindel closed the list of speakers with references to current campaigns, including the new "Youtube channel" and "10 years of time travel journal".

The booklet is available in the museum for three euros.
