After its leader is eliminated: ISIS tries to raise its head | Israel today

The summit in Sde Boker served as a golden opportunity to remind the world that the idea that challenges the existing order in the Middle East - here to stay • The organization strives to gain momentum through incited terrorists

On February 3, ISIS leader Abdullah Kardash was killed when he blew himself up in an operation by an American force in Syria.

The blast killed his children and wives, but did not eliminate the Islamic State idea: the desire to overthrow Arab regimes, erase recognized borders and establish a regime ostensibly based on ancient Islam, while ignoring long-standing interpretive traditions and "foreign influences."

This idea remains the same thanks to the attempt of ISIS operatives, from Morocco to Pakistan, to gain new momentum despite the blows they have suffered.

In addition to the elimination of the first two caliphs, the organization has lost most of the territories under its control in recent years, and its operatives are arrested or liquidated one after another.

A Jordanian report released this month revealed that 2021 was a witness to the organization's weakening: the number of its official members plummeted to several hundred, given the many casualties from its ranks on the battlefield and some returning to Jordan.

Just a few weeks after the assassination, a new leader was sworn in to ISIS: the brother of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who chose for himself the name of the war Abu al-Hassan al-Hashmi al-Qurayshi.

Immediately afterwards, ISIS cells began swearing allegiance to him and continued attempts to carry out terrorist attacks.

ISIS 'effort was not only reflected in organized cells, but also in terrorists who received remote training and acted on their own, while being fed on the ongoing propaganda available and visible to all on social media.

During the night, ISIS claimed responsibility for the terrorist attacks in Hadera and Be'er Sheva, and treated the terrorists as its people.

The defense establishment estimated that the terrorist from Be'er Sheva acted alone, and this may also be the case in this incident.

However, Ayman and Ibrahim Agbaria and Muhammad al-Qiaan have been outspoken ISIS supporters, and at least have been inspired by social media.

The summit of Arab foreign ministers in Sde Boker served as a golden opportunity for ISIS supporters to remind the world that the idea that challenges the existing order in the Middle East is here to stay.

After killing his seniors and killing his men on the battlefield, ISIS is trying to raise its head.
