It has long been clear: Jürgen Quest, manager of the Germeringer Tafel, would like to spread the responsibility for the offer of help across several shoulders.
Germering – The board is supported by the Germering social service.
Sabine Brügel-Fritzen from the board of social services can understand the decision very well.
"I am infinitely grateful that Jürgen Quest, always highly motivated, has continued to professionalize the Tafel for eleven years, be it in terms of IT or the organizational structure, in resource planning or customer service.
Or during the corona pandemic, through which he safely steered the table ship.
According to Brügel-Fritzen, he helped out almost every day: for example by building the furniture while the table was moving to new premises, by picking up the goods in the early hours of the morning or by preparing the goods.
Free groceries
Thanks to his initiative, the Germeringer Tafel has become a real “small Viktualienmarkt”, which currently supports around 1000 people in need (around 600 adults and 400 children) with free groceries once a week, says Sabine Brügel-Fritzen.
Currently, about ten refugee families from the Ukraine are added as new table customers every week.
While there were 30 employees at the beginning of Quest's voluntary work, there are currently almost 80 employees on duty to pick up the goods from the shops, prepare them for distribution and then hand them out to customers on Tuesdays.
"Meanwhile, this varied and interesting task has become so extensive that I can no longer manage it as a lone fighter in the management," says Quest.
In order to set up the Germeringer Tafel for further growth in the future, a team with different focal points and different sub-areas is to be formed, in which the individually possible work assignment will then be taken into account.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)
Jürgen Quest has already won a first deputy: Reinhard Wilhelm, who has been working at the Tafel for several months, now supports Quest with administrative tasks.
"If, for example, a retailer announces a large donation by telephone, the work begins: a driver has to be found to pick it up and someone to receive the goods on site. Storage areas, for example for frozen products, have to be prepared if necessary," so quest.
He is now looking for more supporters for his management team.
They should be people who like to get in touch with others in person and by phone, who want to take responsibility and can find pragmatic solutions.
And also willing to lend a hand, to integrate into the team of Tafel employees, to have a positive demeanor and a social streak.
Anyone who wants to help out in the Tafel management team should contact Jürgen Quest: Mail to germeringer.tafel@web.de.
