Next Sunday, the masks and access restrictions should also fall in the southwest.

The state has been rebuffed with its push for an extension of the protective measures at the federal level.

Now green-black is not much left.

Stuttgart – The government of the Greens and CDU in Baden-Württemberg will decide on further corona management on Tuesday.

However, the state sees hardly any opportunities to intervene because the federal government has ensured by law that after a transition period from next Sunday almost all protective measures will be eliminated.

What remains is the so-called hotspot rule, with which the state parliament can determine a particularly critical corona situation regionally and impose stricter measures.

But the leaders of the Greens and CDU, in contrast to Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD), consider this rule to be legally unworkable.

Kretschmann calls the federal government’s corona plans “grossly negligent”

On Tuesday morning, the leaders of the Greens and CDU will first discuss how to proceed in the coalition committee, and then the cabinet will decide.

It is considered certain that the conditions will initially be lifted from this Sunday.

Because despite the high number of new infections, the hospitals in Baden-Württemberg are still relatively far from the limit in terms of capacity.

In addition to the pandemic policy, the state government is also dealing with the consequences of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

All ministers should report what else they expect in their area and how they intend to react.

Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) wants to present the plans next week in a government statement in the state parliament.

The country is under pressure mainly because of the housing of tens of thousands of refugees, rising prices and broken supply chains in the economy.

"This war will change everything," Kretschmann warned last week.
