New Delhi-SANA
Millions of workers in India today began a two-day all-out strike to protest the government's economic policies regarding low wages and demanded better working conditions for all industrial workers, employees and farmers.
The Associated Press reported that a number of Indian trade unions organized the strike and demanded that the Indian government provide comprehensive social security coverage for workers and raise the minimum wage in addition to stopping the privatization of public sector banks.
She added that more than 200 million formal and informal workers, who are demanding the government to raise low wages, are expected to participate in the strike.
The strike caused a traffic jam in some Indian states after protesters blocked roads.
The strike will affect many sectors in the country such as banks, transportation and electricity establishments due to the participation of employees in the strike.
The Indian economy has recently recovered, after it faced many difficulties during the Corona pandemic, but many jobs were lost, with unemployment rising to 8 percent last December.
