Reithamer Weiher: Still unsuitable for fire protection

In an emergency, things can get tight: the Reithamer Weiher is not reliable as a fire-fighting water reservoir.

The Reithamer Weiher has become a small idyll since its renovation.
However, its function as a fire-fighting water reservoir leaves a lot to be desired.
This has now become clear in the Warngau municipal council.
After all, the fire-fighting water supply is now to be improved in other ways.

– As Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG) explained, the responsible water procurement association wants to renew the line as part of the upcoming road renovation between Reitham and the B 318.
The new tubes would have a diameter of 110 millimeters.
The municipality wants to pay the surcharge in order to increase the line diameter to 160 millimeters - and thus also the line capacity, the town hall chief explained.
The net costs for this are estimated at around 3600 euros.
In addition, the old hydrant at the Reithamer Weiher is to be replaced with a current model that is also protected against accidents in the course of the work that is due anyway.
According to Thurnhuber, the costs for this additional service should be around 4,600 euros net.
Including working hours, the town hall expects gross costs of a good 12,000 euros.
"That makes sense, that goes well with it," said Mayor Thurnhuber at the meeting.
The council unanimously gave the go-ahead for the move.
However, it is not yet clear whether the planned road rehabilitation will actually take place this year.
The measure was advertised as part of a road construction package, as Thurnhuber reported when asked by Reinhard Bucher (Greens).
But the municipal council will only make the decision once the result of the tender is available.
In view of this, Josef Gschwendtner (FWG) made it clear that increasing the extinguishing water capacity in Reitham was urgent: "The pond is difficult to use," explained Gschwendtner, "that would be important for fire protection." According to Thurnhuber, the pond is also available failed a fire brigade exercise.

Wrong riser installed
A company should have fixed the defect a long time ago since the completion of the conversion around three years ago - but as Thurnhuber now concedes when asked by our newspaper, this has still not happened.
Once again, the head of the town hall assured the local council that it would take care of the fact that the problem in Reitham would finally be solved.
"I spoke to the company again, we have to put pressure on again."
As Thurnhuber explained when asked after the meeting, the wrong riser had been installed.
"The right line has been ordered, but that still has to be done." However, the head of town hall is also aware that it cannot be that the solution will take four years to come.
"Something has to happen in the next few weeks."
