The participants in the “Women in Government” forum during the activities of the preparatory day for the World Government Summit 2022 held in the United Arab Emirates highlighted the role of Arab women in comprehensive development and the importance of developing legislative frameworks to empower them and expand their participation in leadership positions.

The Emirates News Agency quoted Dr. Salam Safaf, Minister of Administrative Development, as confirming, during a dialogue session entitled “The Philosophy of Governmental Leadership.. Dialogue with Arab Women Ministers,” the growing awareness of the importance of the role of women at the national level in Syria, noting that the stereotyped image of women still exists in Syria. Many fields, although since 1949, Syrian women have won the right to participate in elections.

Minister Safaf reviewed her personal experience in this regard, noting that her path was full of challenges, but she was able to overcome them thanks to the growing awareness of the importance of the role of women.

In turn, the Minister of State in the UAE government, Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, praised the UAE’s experience in empowering women by developing a road map for women within an integrated strategy and system to activate women’s participation in all sectors in the country, which has achieved an unparalleled successful experience in the country.

For her part, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development in Egypt, reviewed the experience of her country in this regard, noting the progress achieved by Egyptian women over the past years in many fields, especially in the field of political representation, participation in decision-making and contributing to economic development by taking advantage of the Supportive government programs.

In the same context, Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar, Jordanian Minister of Culture, said that her country's government views the reality of women from an integrative transformational perspective, as it is witnessing today a comprehensive development stage after launching a national strategy for women in Jordan in order to empower them and enhance their participation in a society where women enjoy equal rights and opportunities to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development. .

For her part, Sudan's Minister of Labor and Administrative Reform, Tayseer Al-Nurani, affirmed that her country is making continuous efforts in the matter of empowering women and encouraging them to enter the fields of entrepreneurship and vocational training.
